Literature searches should be systematic, transparent and reproducible to minimise 'dissemination biases'. These may affect the results of reviews and include publication bias and database bias. This chapter provides advice on the sources to search and on how to develop strategies for systematic literature searches to identify the best available evidence. It also provides advice on other areas of information management that form an important part of guideline development.
